• Historical Center Residency
We are excited to announce our new residency project that includes accommodation in one of the prettiest areas in Athens!
The Residency.
We are looking for a specific number of artists who will work in our gallery space, which is located in Thiseio. Both your work space and your accommodation are within walking distance from the Acropolis and Partheon, the ancient Herodium Theater and several destinations of historical importance.
Artists of all types of art can apply: painting, sculpting, performance, video art, photography and more.
Our gallery: a friendly environment that has hosted a great amount of projects and the work of artists from all over the world.
You will be allocated with your own space so you can work on your projects!
The Accommodation.
Enjoy the inspiring view of your accommodation with a large patio and the whole city at your feet!
Yes, this is the actual view from your accommodation! Acropolis and the city lights at night, make it look like it popped out of a fairy tail!
The interior of the place is cosy with large windows, providing a good view of the city, too.
The place includes a small working space, too and a piano for the music lovers.
You will have your own private room with a double bed and the kitchen, bathroom and common areas will be shared with another artist.
Requirements and Theme.
The artist in residence must produce at least one artwork that relates to the history of Athens. You can pick any topic of your choice: mythology, ancient architecture, epic rapsodies and literature or anything else you prefer. The work produced during the residency, will be exhibited in one of our group exhibitions, in our gallery.
Fees and Commission.
The gallery will not take any commission from sales of the artworks that will be exhibited.
• The fee for one week (7days) is €320 for one person and €450 in case the artist wants to bring a guest.
• The fee for two weeks (14 days) is €550 for one person and €820 in case the artist wants to bring a guest.
This fee is meant to cover all needs of the residency, including the accommodation. No extra charges will be applied.
Dates: We are flexible with the dates of your residency. The artists who have secured their participation can select the dates of their choice, always according to the schedule of the gallery and the availability.
Additional Information:
• The artists will be promoted on our social media throughout their residency with stories, reels and posts.
• The gallery can provide some basic material like paint brushes, acrylics, oils and charcoals but the artists are welcome to bring their own equipment.
• The accommodation provides the necessary utilities for the artists to prepare their own meals.
• The gallery and your accommodation are within walking distance so you will not have to worry about the transportation - which makes it ideal for those who want to work late at night.
How to Apply.
You can simply send us an email with a short text about your, your background, your education or the type of work you are planning on creating throughout the residency.
We also need some links to your websites and/or social media accounts.
You are also more than welcome to attach files of your work to your email and/or a pdf with more information about your practice.
Please make sure to mention in the subject of the email, the project you are applying for e.g. 'Athens Residency'.
